I was the same. We had quite a battle at the start there! Almost from the start I turned off the notifications. I actually don't get notifications for much on my phone, usually just SMS and Phone calls.

About a week ago, I deleted both Foursquare and Gowalla completely. I don't see that point, I've never run into anyone that found me because of a checkin and I never look for people near by. The GDLDN folks know when I'm there. Twitter is good enough to hook up with folks if that's what I'm in the mood for.

In general, at this point I kinda prefer people not know where I am. If I actually bump into people it was meant to be.

And I've been setting my phone to Airplane mode a lot lately. I can not let a call go to voicemail if I know it's there so if it's on I'll answer. If not I'm probably with one or more of the most important people in my life and I want to give them all my attention.

Wow, that is awesome. I wish more businesses around London would engage foursquare like that.

I'm not really sure what place 4sq has in my life. Does it add any real value, or is it just fun and games.

I have notifications from other's turned off so they don't appear on my iPhone, and I only tweet my location (never Facebook, my facebook friends don't care) when I really feel like sharing it, but not on a normal basis.

I don't have any idea why I really use it, although this happened to me today and it wasn't until I got the email about it that it was too late. I applaude the business for being on top of their game.

Glad you posted this. I've scheduled the start of 2.0 programming for RimRoller on Feb 1. I have some great features in mind that I want to incorporate, and of course fix the twitter OAuth issue.

Great work Edward.

As you probably know Twitter mandates that all third-party Apps use OAuth and RimRoller uses the old system.
I'm encouraging you to release an update in time to rim season.

I once developed a drupal-based web-site as a proof of concept for tracking peoples rim results, but it was pre-twitter and I didn't have the interest in promoting it.
It still lives as a simple Twitter searcher at http://rimcount.com

If you update your app I'd be happy to promote it.

Great video, the quality and lighting is quite impressive also considering that it's just an entry level camera only from Canon. They really did such an improvement over the previous 500d platform. I own some Panasonic camera but I really like anon over Nikon products.

I sympathize with having a let down after achieving a big running goal. I trained all winter for a race, and then afterwards did hardly anything for a month.
Great work on increasing your monthly goals, that will help for sure. And congratulations on signing up for the 1/2 Marathon.
For me, I'm considering getting into triathlons. I'm hoping that by adding new activities into my routine it will help me stay motivated to train.

Your Mom told me about your site so thought I would visit ,we went out for lunch to-day to celebrate her upcoming birthday.I hear you are continuing your running and have signed up for a run in Detroit, good for you.I am busy here at the Condo we are restoring the balconies this has been on going since last September and I will be very happy when it is finishes. It is a half million dollar job and I have been shepherding it though which keeps me busy.You have great genes and are really clever and I am so proud of all your accomplishments,just keep thinking BIG and it is amazing what you can accomplish.

The banding looks like theshutter speed was higher than 1/60th in the floecent lighting. I doubt anything is wrong with the camera.

Yikes, Ed! Really sorry to hear about that.

I've got my own story about something I loved getting runover. I was longboarding in my neighbourhood and heading down a hill on a residential street towards Oxford. I picked up too much speed so I put my foot down to slow. However I lost my balance and shot the longboard out right into Oxford.

It was somewhat comedic as I watched a giant tanker truck appear from behind a building and immediatly smash the longboard into splinters.

Thankfully I was able to rescue the trucks, so if I ever get around to it I can build a new one.

I definitally sympathize.
